Sustainable Forestry is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), founded in 2012.

The charity was established to enhance and extend the research initiated by the Scottish Forest Alliance (SFA), which created nearly 11,000 hectares of new native woodland between 2000 and 2011.

The primary objective of Sustainable Forestry SCIO is to further research and increase understanding into the contribution that new native woodland makes to biodiversity and climate change mitigation and adaptation. The research will be used to inform the development of climate change policy, woodland conservation policy and practice in the UK and beyond.

Sustainable Forestry SCIO runs an annual Small Grants programme to encourage new research and conducts a Large Grants programme every 10 years to build on the research established by the SFA.
